CULOTTES AND CAMEL

I have this fascination with culottes and other cropped pants for the longest time.  A pair of culottes is a versatile piece for me.  It can be casual and laid back yet it can be also be a fashionable workwear if styled properly.  Here, I paired a rather casual looking bottom with a more structured top to make it look more like an office wear rather than something you wear on a day of mall hopping.  The camel coat somehow lightened up the monochromatic tones of the outfit I am wearing.  I used to be known as a woman of bright coloured clothes but I noticed that my taste is slowly gravitating towards neutrals and other basic hues lately.  Must be the weather here in Guangzhou which always seemed to be gloomy.  I have to keep in mind to add some color and texture to my spring wardrobe.  Watch out for it folks.

WHAT I WORE:
camel coat from ZARA
black top from HUSSEIN CHALAYAN
gingham culottes from ZARA (TRAFALUC)
boots from FOREVER 21 ONLINE SHOP
trapeze bag from CELINE
leather belt used as a choker
eyewear from MARC JACOBS
bracelet and midi rings from H&M

JEANS AND STUDS

The advantage of working in a creative setting is that I don't really need to be suited and dress to the nines everyday for it.  There are times when I can just be laid back, well in terms of clothing of course! not work.  Today is one of those days when I am not really in the mood to power dress at all.  Jeans can work in the office especially if it is in a darker color.  I paired it with a loose-fit outerwear and a tie-front tunic.  Since it is not so cold, I thought I should give my knee high boots a rest and wear some ankle boots instead.  I love this boots  because it has an inner heels inside of it just like the other Marant Beckett sneakers.  It gives the added height; not that I need it but this one is really comfortable in spite of the couple of inches wedge heels.

WHAT I WORE:
tie-front tunics from PULL AND BEAR
black outer wear from ZARA
skinnies from H&M
boots from ISABEL MARANT

EBONY AND PEARLS

Ebony is such a classic hue that never goes out of style.  Pair it with pearls and it even becomes more sophisticated.  if I wake up not knowing what to wear in the morning and yet I want to look polished, I will immediately get my hands on a black shift dress.  One can never go wrong with this ensemble for work.  Since I am wearing an all black outfit, I thought I should spice it up a tad more by putting a bright red lipstick and of course, the exquisite pearls.  I wore a coat out of necessity, because the weather here in Guangzhou can be a bit bipolar throughout the day.  I don't want to be caught dead shivering my insides out because of the cold.

WHAT I WORE:
coat by KARY JONES
shift dress by ZARA
boots by ABUSIVA
tote bag by RALPH LAUREN
eyewear by MIU MIU
pearl necklace was a gift from a good friend of mine MARCUS

BIKER CHIC

I have this never-ending fascination with the grunge/rock/biker fashion.  There was even a time when all I wore were band shirts and leather jackets.  Yup, been there, done that during my younger years.  Slipping into this mode is like second skin to me.  I paired my biker jacket with a shirt I bought during my recent US trip.  The frayed edges seemed to match the rough look I want for the top.  However, I did not want to look like I am about to go to a band concert when the truth is I was on my way to work.  Yeah, I worked this Sunday afternoon.  So I wore my patterned jogger pants for a little "chicness" and to soften the look a bit.  The combat boots that I got for an astonishing low price completed the look.  I got the pair for 20rmb which is around 3 USD.  Amazing huh?  I got it from online thrift shopping.  China is actually amazing when it comes to online bargains.

WHAT I WORE:
top from URBAN OUTFITTERS
biker jacket from COATS TRADING CO
pants from H&M
combat boots from online shop
bag from CELINE
eyewear from MIU MIU

SWEATER WEATHER

This weather is driving me crazy.  Just when I thought it will be continously warm because heck!it is already spring, it suddenly dropped again. I only had two hours of sleep and the weather makes it harder to get out of bed.  The only consolation I have is that the sun is out today; a far cry from the gloomy rainy weather these past few days. I had to bring out this fuzzy sweater again (well, I have three of this...the danger of soeed online shopping folks!) .  I will still be doing lots of drawings again today so I have to be comfortable and besides it is Friyay Friday anyway.  I paired it with a classic colored culottes and knee high boots for warmth.  The scarf is a handy accessory especially when the weather drops even lower.  Who knows what can happen with this bipolar weather, yeah?

WHAT I WORE:
black and white skull print sweater from an online shop
Gray culottes from H&M
Boots from ALDO
scarf from SHIQIAO THRIFT SHOP
Large Pandora messenger bag from GIVENCHY
eyewear from MINISO

THE BROWN REVIVAL

I will be drawing a lot today so in times like this, comfort is really main priority on choosing my day clothes.  It is still a little cold even though it is officially spring but I am braving it with culottes and a long cardigan anyway.  I threw in some scarf for some accent detail; just to have a splash of color from the otherwise earthy hues.  Brown color has the tendency to look drab and dull so I always pair it with another solid hue like black to break the monotony as well as insert some color pop once in a while.

WHAT I WORE:
long brown cardigan from H&M
black inner long sleeves from H&M
ochre culottes from H&M
scarf from Women's day office freebies
wedge boots from H&M
bag from LOUIS VUITTON
