MEETING READY

Being a landscape architect, I usually go to client meetings to present my design ideas for projects that I am in charge of.  Today is one of those days when I have to dress up more in a business manner.  This furry gray coat never fails to empower me; you know, that unexplainable thing when your clothes affect the way you act and carry yourself the whole day.  Well, this is that "thing" for me.  I love the softness of it and the belted waist.  My inner outfit is more simple so as to complement the statement outer wear.  As I have mentioned in my older posts, I usually keep my work wear simple and then I throw in a statement piece for interest and pizzazz.

GRUNGE FEMME

black leather bomber jacket from ZARA MEN

I love grunge; I love rock and roll especially the leather jackets.  However, I cannot really wear that to work no matter how creative our firm is.  With this limitation in mind, I have to improvise in order to incorporate the skulls and studs into my workwear.  In this ensemble, I threw my oversized skull sweater over my black racerback maxidress.  The feminity of the dress somehow softened the look. A pink scarf is used for some color pop.  The final touches of rock and roll are emphasized by the black leather bomber jacket; studded booties and clutch.

Layered

layered and comfy

During winter, layering is necessary for comfort and warmth.  However, one has to know which pieces work with each other so as to avoid looking like a stuffed bear.  For me, I usually mix flowing lines with a structured base; probably an influence I got from designing projects at work.  I keep it simple by keeping most of my ensemble in one hue family; in this case, greys in cool tone.  And then I usually add a splash of color or a different texture for contrast and an interesting twist.  Here, I mixed the dark brown scarf in the outfit so I wouldn't look too washed out because of the monochromatic colors.  Well, as for my hair; it is in a top knot because I am too lazy to comb and blow dry it.  A few minutes more and I will be late for work.

PRIM AND PURPLE

A photoshoot I have done for my daughter's 9th birthday party "Prim and Purple" a few years ago.  We did this at home with no special lights at all.

Oggi Trattoria and Pizzeria (Guangzhou)

A few days before Chinese year, my good friends and I had dinner at one of the Italian restaurants in town.  I didn't know about the place primarily because I live in the suburbs.

with my friends

Oggi has a very nice ambiance, in fact, very Italian.  The stone walls, the music and the paintings are reminiscent of European style.

Most of the food that we ordered were great; both the appetizers and the main courses were spectacular.  The prosciutto on one of the appetizers could have been better though.

The desserts were luscious! We had two kinds, one was pannacotta while the other one was a gelato lava cake which was heavenly.
