COLD SHOULDER AND STRIPES

Who said you can't combine a colourful top and a loud print?  I say you can as long as the colourful top is in a solid colour.  Some cool details like a zip metal front and a cold shoulder would not hurt either.  This top is actually a cropped one which I matched with a high waisted pants to make it more appropriate for work.  I couldn't barge into the office with my navel in full view right?  Baring the shoulders seem more acceptable, of course.

My flight today is delayed so I might as well make my time useful by catching up with my blogposts.  Here is a backlog post about an ensemble I wore last week.  This black striped mid length dress is actually a beauty on its own.  The cut and pattern are really flattering and it gives off that sexy workwear vibe.  However, I thought of adding one more layer over it to make it more corporate and interesting.  The outerwear is actually another dress worn backwards.  Can you tell that it is flipped backwards by the looks of it?  I made it function as an outerwear thereby giving the patterned innerwear something more solid to anchor to.

TRAVEL TUESDAY



Business trips or rather business trips in my profession usually requires ensembles that can go from planes and straight into the boardroom.  Usually there is no time to actually change into a powersuit primarily because of the whirlwind schedule; site visits, client meetings; socials with clients.  However, the pains of plane traveling and coursing through the airport entails clothes that will give one comfort rather than the stiffness of officewear.  That is a must for me when I am traveling.  For this recent trip of mine, I chose this pants because it is very comfortable yet dressy enough for sudden client meetings; a turtleneck top because I was about to go somewhere colder than Guangzhou and a motorcycle jacket because I just don't want to lose my spunk and attitude *wink*.  Kidding aside, the jacket can easily be taken off and replaced with a coat in case of sudden client calls.

I am so excited to wear this jacket today.  It is a new one that I got from an online shop here in China and for a really cheap price-50 rmb which is around 8 dollars...yeah! beat that!  The weather is actually warming up a little for spring so I wanted a leather jacket that I can use in spite of the not so chilly weather.  Paired it with my striped maxi dress and threw in a jumper on top thereby making the look a little more grungy casual.  The scarf is a gift from a friend of mine last Christmas.

BROWN STRIPES

This is the kind of day when I just pull the first things that I see inside my closet.  I had a splitting headache and I had to get up and go to the church with my family.  I took my stripes jumpsuit out.  I prefer wearing my jumpsuits on weekends primarily because if I wear it to work, it means I had to wear it the whole day.  Wearing it whole day means going to the loo will be quite a pain in the ass because of too much fuss on getting it off.  I prefer practicality and comfort during workdays.  So for this look, my bold stripe jumpsuit is the focal and the rest is of the same monochromatic hues; from nudes to brown including my boots.

Doesn't this jumpsuit look familiar?  It seems like something you can see down the road, doesn't it? The first time I saw this, it reminded me of a pedestrian crossing,you know those zebra lines you usually see at intersections, or perhaps a mental asylum uniform.  When I happened to stumble upon this pattern all over the magazines during the start of spring (H&M actually devoted a section of their lookbook for this pattern), I thought how on earth can I make it work with my style? And I got busy devising ways to incorporate it into my wardrobe 101.  Ergo, I accepted the challenge and bought this jumpsuit .  If you are wondering how was I able to get away with it? simple, I used a solid classic cut vest as an anchor for this trendy print.

 I wore this style for a birthday dinner treat of a friend.  I don't mind wearing a jumpsuit for a short period of time.  However, it is a big NO for me if it's a day-long event.  I just don't find it comfortable especially when I have to go to the loo.

 I streamed down my accessories to a pair of statement feathery earrings.  I got this as a birthday gift from another friend of mine. I figured that since the prints that I wore looks loud, I might as well tone the other things down so there, no necklace at all and neutral blush and gloss only.
