Neutrals at Aion Center

I remember this day vividly.  It was one afternoon after a lunch at a Chinese restaurant near Hyatt Regency where I stayed during the trip.  I had been itching to take a picture of the pocket park at Aion Centre because I thought the scale and simplicity of the design really stand out.  I have been doing a lot of office and commercial design lately so naturally I thought this site would be a good case study.

But then of course I also ended taking outfit pictures of myself.  I did blend well with the surroundings; with my structured jacket and all.  It was a relatively cold day but that did not stop me from wearing my culottes.  I just wore my knee high boots to protect me from the cold.  Yup, the girl from the tropics is not so fond of the cold weather, whether in US or here in China.

WHAT I WORE:
Plaid Coat:                GIFT FROM HUBBY
Culottes:                   H&M
Boots:                       ALDO
Bag:                          GIVENCHY PANDORA
Black turtleneck:      UNIQLO

couldn't resist posing with this wall background.

 and more wall shots

at the hotel before going out for lunch

 comfy even if it's cold

It is obvious that I really fancy this wall.

Till the next one lovelies!

A trip down history and way up the 103rd floor

This was the day I spent at Field's Museum for some brush-up with American history.  Of course, since the museum is near the lakeside with that breath-taking view of the Chicago skyline, who can resist some photo-op out there?  For sure not me.

WHAT I WORE:
Brown long outerwear: H&M (received as an office exchange gift  present last Christmas 2014)
Maxidress: H&M
Knee high Boots: Aldo
Bag: Givenchy Pandora
Sunglasses: Miniso (yup, that pair of eyewear is really cheap, less than 5usd. beat that hah!)

Lakefront
Well, I don't know about you, but that is one hell of a view to me.

The Field's Museum
Fields museum
One magnificent piece of architecture.

Obligatory pose at the steps....

Happy to do another thing I love---photography.

And of course, I just gotta have this picture with that background!

And hell yeah, I took a lot of pics with that background 😁 but I am just posting two😝

Adler museum at the back, folks!

Brilliant afternoon, gorgeous lawn.  What is not to love in Chicago?

In addition to this glorious afternoon shots, sunset was spent up the 103rd floor of the Willis tower.  I did love the spectacular view beyond the glass encased window but there was a whole lot of people trying to get to the same spot all at the same time.  We had to literally  wrestle our way to that window.

400plus feet up in the skydeck.

And I managed to get to this window.   Well the view was definitely worth it!

I'm just gonna sit here and enjoy this.

Lovely Chicago by sundown

So till the next one lovelies!!!!

A stroll at Lincoln Park

I spent the latter part of the autumn at the beautiful city of Chicago.  It was actually love at first sight for a landscape architect like me.  I fell in love with the city the minute I saw it from the plane's window.  The city lights are all lined up orderly and I could see the road hierarchy clearly.  It is an amalgam of new and vintage architecture as well as a nice blend of the city and nature.

The pics below were taken during  the day when I went to Lincoln Nature boardwalk to check the design, the park and the zoo.  It was quite cold but not uncomfortable enough to have a leisurely stroll.

WHAT I WORE:

Coat: DKNY
Ribbed turtleneck top:ZARA
Vertical striped trousers: H&M
boots: ISABEL MARANT 'CALEEN'
Sling bag:GIVENCHY 'PANDORA'

Hanging out at the bridge with a nice view.
Cozy at the honeycomb structure.

Looking out at the river and grassland.

Nope! I wasn't looking for wifi though it sure looks like it.  I was taking a picture of a quaint house opposite the road. (The justification is the pic below 😁)

So till the next one loves!

The Romantics

Braids and ruffles aren't really my thing.  If you have been reading this blog or have been following me in other social media platforms,  you will notice that my style tends to lean more on the boho and funky side.  Basically, because I am not really so feminine when it comes to actions and mannerisms.

However, I thought about donning the romantic look for a whole work week. I really thought I wouldn't last but I managed to pull through somehow.

So here are the looks and I do hope you peeps like them.

The Off shoulder:  this top evokes a romantic fierce look.  The offshoulder somehow softens the animal print on it.

WHAT I WORE:

Offshoulder top: from a friend
Trousers: ZARA
Black wedge pumps:Online store
Bag: Celine Microluggage
Necklace: Pearls given as a birthday gift by a friend
Bracelet: J. Crew
Earrings: from my mother

RUFFLES DELIGHT: This dress has a summer romantic vibe in it.  Though the color screams summer, the ruffled neckline gives a softness to the otherwise bright and striking hue.

WHAT I WORE:

maxi dress from Boracay girls
Wedge sandals: Online shop
Bag: Coach
Earrings : Forever 21
Bangles : MCM

EMBELLISHED AND GRAY:  a little embellishments on the shoulder can add  more structure to a dress.  Soft feminine back cutouts wouldn't hurt as well.  Sexy,  but feminine and elegant.

DRESS: ZAra
BAG: Nine West
SHOES: ROger Vivier Marlene

FLORAL TOUCH: What else can be more romantic than a floral print, ruffled  sleeves and a neutral color?  Add up some sidebraid and voila! A very feminine look indeed.

WHAT I WORE:

TOP: Floral blouse with ruffled sleeves from a friend
SKIRT: Small polka dots printed skirt from Liz Claiborne
SHOES: Neutral pumps from  an online shop
PURSE: MCM manila

So there, I gotta go now.  My eyelids are already fluttering from lack of sleep.

Sheri xx

"KALAYAAN 2015" The 117th Philippine Independence Day

My home country, the Philippines, celebrated its 117th Independence day last June 12.  Being the head of the Filipino Camera Club organization here in Guangzhou, I was invited to the celebratory dinner held at the Garden Hotel.  I wasn't able to attend the celebration last year primarily because of work and I made it a point to catch up this year.  Below are some of the event's pics and of course, what I wore during the event.

WHAT I WORE:

Midnight Blue dress with front slit and lace sleeves from ZARA

gold and black heels from an online Chinese shop

Medium flap bag from Chanel

Pearl necklace was given as a birthday gift by a good friend

Pearl Earrings from my mom

Statement ring from WWW

Watch from Michael Kors

And me doing my red carpet thing 😁😁

I had a great night but honestly, my feet hurt at the end of the event so I opted to go home rather than go out with friends. (What a buzzkill!😁).  Well, I prefer comfort and I've proven to myself once again that stilettos are not my kind of thing anymore.

Till the next one loves...😘😘😘

The Maxi dress

I have been a fan of maxis long before it eas even trended as the maxidress.  It is the easiest way for me to look as if I've put some effort on dressing up when the truth is, I was just too lazy to iron my clothes.  Though most of the maxis exude a summer vibe, I figured I can still make it work at the office.  Good thing, I work on the creative side thus the dresscodes are not that stiff.  So here are my takes on the maxidress and hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

Maxi Blues:  I love everything about this dress;  i love the print, the color and the cut.  It is just about the right length; not too long or short.  It is a halterback though, so I have to cover it up with a cardigan to make it more appropriate for work.
WHAT I WORE:
dress from Mangohouse

Blue lacey back cardigan is from my Mom

Wedge sandal bought from an online shop

Bag is from Coach

Bangles are from MCM

earrings are from H&M

necklace is from SM Accessories(I think so; I can't really remember because it has been with me for more than five years.)

Sheer and Long: this dress is really a very summer dress.  It has some deep cuts at the side which really helps on a very hot summer day but unfortunately, may show things you are not supposed to show in an office scenario.  So what I did is find coverage through a long sheer cover-up and voila! It is office ready.

WHAT I WORE:

Dress from Copa Cobana
Black sheer cover-up from Forever 21
spidey sandals from a Chinese online store

The Boho Maxi:  for those of you who have been following me for quite some time, you will notice that I have quite a fondness for the bohemian style.  So here is another boho mix that I went to work with.

WHAT I WORE:

Fringed kimono from H&M
blue maxi dress  from Copa cobana
Caleen boots from Isabel Marant
Silver cuff from WWW
Watch is from Marc Jacobs

So there you go peeps.   Hope you like the looks and please do checkout my lookbooks and instagram accounts, which are posted at the sidebar.

Till the next one.

All the love,
Sheri xx
