NEW YORK!

New York! The big apple or the city that never sleeps to some but for me, it is the home of my queens, S & B; the empire of Serena and Blair; the playground of Carrie Bradshaw,Samantha Jones. Charlotte York Goldenblatt and Miranda Hobbes; the home of Gossip Girl and Sex and the City.  I went for a quick trip (and when I said quick, I meant like a 3 days and 2 nights trip only) to visit my relatives here as well as have a brief look-see ( more like an amazing race) into the city.  I had so much in my itinerary but had so little time to go everywhere I had planned.  But I did make the most of my visit and you can watch out for all the amazing places in my future blog posts here.

I have always been told that New York is really cold so I actually came prepared.  But I was thankful that it was not snowing when I arrived or else, it would have been difficult to go to the places I had in mind.  And besides, cold weather and I don't really like each other.  So for this amazing race day 1, I picked a nice floral dress with a choker like neckline which is technically not for winter.  I carried a wool scarf in my bag just in case the temperature drops (and it did in the evening! and yeah I was still out that time dong skyline shots at Gantry park).  I paired the dress with black tights and mind you, I wore 2 tights and a pair of thigh high boots just to be sure.  It was a good thing because the sun was up most of the time so it kept us warm.

WHAT I WORE:
camel long coat from FOREVER 21
floral dress from H&M
thigh high boots from BOOTSIES
eyewear from COTTON ON
charcoal gray tote bag from STEVE MADDEN

VIVA LAS VEGAS!

Welcome to the flamboyant display of luxury and entertainment; the dizzying throngs of people; the glitzy sparkling lights of the nightclubs and bars; the luxurious and pompous hotels' slash casinos' facades that try to lure you in for a night of merriment and gambling.  This is Las Vegas for me  - a city that screams everything in unbelievable extremes.  Like a beacon in the middle of the desert, its sparkling light never ceases to invite tourists in; no matter what age, race or face you have.  The language is money; the currency is the willingness to spend thousands of bucks inside it.

We went here on a family trip as a celebration for Uncle Paul's birthday as well as the kids' winter break.  They toured us around the strip and we got bedazzled by the Bellagio's water fountain show.  Apart from the beauty of the hotels' architecture and interior, Las Vegas confused me a lot.  It is a far cry from the quiet and simple life at SoCal area.  Everything was abuzz; everything was blaring and ostentatious.  Maybe I have reached that age when nights of partying are not my thing anymore.  I am done with that.  I prefer a quiet night of reading or writing, or more so, dining with good friends and family.  I felt that it was quite impossible to achieve that kind of night out in Vegas.  Yes, I can go to Vegas from time to time but frankly, I can't live there.  I don't have the adrenaline for that anymore.

The architecture of this place is something to return to, I must say.  Most of the hotels interiors are really jaw dropping marvellous. They have everything from renaissance inspired to contemporary metal cladded hotels and buildings.  It is just so difficult to get a good shot mainly because of the mammoth crowd.

WHAT I WORE:

red printed culottes from H&M
camel coat from FOREVER 21

The Sarong

I know that I have not updated my blog for about a week or two.  I was just a little exhausted with work so when I finally had a free weekend, I ended up sleeping the whole day.  There are just some days when you want to cut yourself off from blogging and just spend the day old school; like sleeping, cooking for the fambam and going out to parks.

Here are photos of me while strolling at a green space near my house and featuring my baby girl Zouis.  I opted to wear lightweight materials because of the unforgiving heat.  A weather like this calls for a comfy sarong and an airy tank top.

WHAT I WORE:
Tank top from FOREVER 21
Sarong from THAILAND
kimono from H&M
babouche from CELINE

KIMONO KILLER

I have seen this trend spread like wildfire sometime ago but for me, Kimono is more than  just a trend piece.  I believe in its versatility and its ability to transform a rather boring wardrobe into an interesting one.  This kimono added a little brightness and softness to what could have been a tougher look here.  Bringing the kimono in somehow made the outfit a tad more chic and work appropriate.  So peeps, don't be afraid to experiment with trend pieces even if the season is well gone, you can always reinvent it and incorporate it back into your wardrobe.

WHAT I WORE:
kimono from HAIDOUYI
racer back maxi dress from FOREVER 21
ankle boots from H&M
purse from an online shop
eyewear from MIU MIU
fringe earrings from H&M

PALM SPRINGS DREAMIN'

While everyone is at the Coachella event this weekend, here I am dreaming of the desert ; of Palm Springs and the music.  Coachella would have been great for a fashion and music enthusiast like me.  I would have gone if I don't have to think about work or the fambam.  And since I am not there physically, then I would just rather celebrate the event through clothing style, of course!  So here is the first of my Coachella series and if you have been following my insta, then I already gave a glimpse of some of the styles I came up with.  Watch out for the details of those in my upcoming blogposts.

So for this look, I love the bohemian print of this jumpsuit and if only it isn't a jumpsuit, I would wear this to work most of the time.  No, I don't have an aversion towards jumpsuits, in fact, I usually love it.  But I wouldn't wear it to work because it can be a nuisance when you are in a hurry in the loo. :-)   Paired it with a flowy top that I used as an outerwear here.  Since my prints are quite loud already, I opted for a solid hue to make the jumpsuit color pop.

WHAT I WORE:
jumpsuit from H&M
flowy top used as an outerwear from FOREVER 21
pandora bag from GIVENCHY
eyewear from MINISO
boots from H&M

earrings and bangles H&M

SKIRTING THE ISSUE

Slim cut skirts always give off that certain office vibe; make it a high-waisted one then it becomes more cosmopolitan chic.  I have been waiting for a less cold weather to wear this skirt again and finally, today is the right day.  It was raining this morning though but nevertheless, it has been warm enough to wear it sans winter tights.  I have 2 meetings today which explain the more office looking get-up.  I paired the clothes with boots to add a more youthful and edgy look.
WHAT I WORE:
black turtleneck from SASHA TENOR
lilac vest  from TONG YU
high waist pencil cut skirt from FOREVER 21
boots from ABUSIVA
bag from NINE WEST
