THE WORK SHORTS

Did I ever mention that summer here in Guangzhou is very unforgiving?  If I did, well I am telling it again and if I haven't yet, then now, I am informing you.  Summer here is different because one has to adjust to the humidity in addition to the sweltering heat.  It can make one sweat so bad even with just a very small distance of walking under the sun.  That is why I never go out without my mini fan and facial mist spray even for lunch breaks.

So because of this, I have to plan my wardrobe lately based on any comfort I can get this summer.  Shorts used to be a no-no for me when it comes to work clothes.  I just feel that it is too casual already.  But I figured that if I mix it with the right top and accessories, then it can be as classy as other workwear.  Here, I paired my shorts with a basic top, a work blazer and a pair of nude pumps.  I just took the blazer off when work was over.

WHAT I WORE:
blazer from H&M
gray top from H&M
black shorts from ZARA
pumps from VALESKA
trapeze bag from CELINE
eyewear from MARC JACOBS

THE WHITE CAPE

Lately, i have been going gaga over this brand called Haoduoyi.  They have a lovely collection of coats, dresses and unconventional tops.  It is an online brand and their clothes prices are quite reasonable.  Most of the pieces are actually cheap.  I was dubious at the quality when I tried it the first time but was quite surprised when the items arrived and everything actually have good workmanship.  More importantly, their sizes are not confined to ridiculously small Asian sizes.  I usually buy my cape coats from them now.  Check the links below to see for yourself how great their collections are.

WHAT I WORE:
white cape from HAODUOYI
black pant with white side bands from H&M
serpenti forever bag from BVLGARI
shoes from GUESS
eyewear from MINISO
gray inner tank top from JOCKEY

DRESS AND PRINTS

You, my readers, should know by now that I have this fascination with dresses.  I have mentioned time and time again that I only own a few pair of pants for the longest time (the number has grown considerably in the past few years.).  A nice dress is a no-brainer way to pull off a polished look in a few minutes.  Pair it with a soft belted suit the way I used it here and you are ready for work.

WHAT I WORE:
gray belted blazer from H&M CONSCIOUS LINE
printed green dress from H&M
eyewear from MARC JACOBS
serpenti forever top handle bag from BVLGARI
ankle boots from GUESS

CAPE DRAMA

Cape coats have always fascinated me and boy! I was so glad that I found this long cape coat good enough for sweltering hot summer days.  I have other cape coats but they are much thicker and can only be worn during winter.  But this one is just right and it is my new favourite.  I wore this ensemble for a business casual brunch celebration of the Philippine Independence day at the Garden Hotel.  I attended the said function as one of the representatives for the Filipino Architects and Landscape Architects Association of Guangzhou (FALA GZ).  This is the fourth time for me to attend this consulate event but it it quite different this time as I used to represent the photography club I used to head before (FILKAM).

WHAT I WORE:
cape coat from HAIDOUYI
striped dress from H&M
dionysus bag from GUCCI
marlene pumps from ROGER VIVIER
eyewear from MIU MIU

THE CAPE

There are times when I just like to dress up more corporate regardless if I have a meeting or not.  I usually do this when I want to uplift my mood because what I wear for the day actually affects my mood most of the time.  I tend to make more effort in dressing up whenever I am tired or had an almost all nighter the night before.  This cape has been in my closet for almost a year now until I decided to wear it today.  i just couldn't find the right pants to go along with it until this pair came along; and I do think that the tailored cut of this pants fits the cape perfectly.  I had to wear heels though or else I will be sweeping the floors because it is a tad longer than it is supposed to be. (and I am too lazy to bring it to the tailor for cutting).

WHAT I WORE:
cape from ZARA
inner top from H&M (my kiddo's shirt)
pants from H&M
eyewear from MIU MIU
phantom bag from CELINE
necklace  from MARCUS (birthday gift before)
dangling earrings from GINA TRICOT
shoes from H&M
watch from LOCMAN
bangle from JACKY (birthday gift 2 years ago)

BLACK ALL THE WAY

An edgy ensemble for a Friday work look.  Usually, if I want an elegant black look, I will go for gold accents and accessories.  On the other hand, if I want to go for an edgy and relaxed black aura, I go for silver like the stuffs featured here.  Since I paired this dress with gladiator sandals; it almost goes without saying that silver is the best way to accessorise it.

WHAT I WORE:
black dress from KOREAN ONLINE SHOP
gladiator sandals from CHINESE ONLINE SHOP
cross necklace from my daughter's stuffs
silver chain necklace from LUXESHOP
cuff bangles from H&M
pandora bag from GIVENCHY
watch from LOCMAN
